The Love & Luck Behind The Luckie Mermaid

Hello! We are your new friends and hosts in Saint Joe Beach! Nice to meet y’all!

 

Here is our story…

​

My name is Dela Jean and although my actual degree is in Fine Arts, somehow, I grew up to become a HR & Accounting professional in Atlanta, Ga. David, or as I call him, “Luckie” is a humble, hardworking Firefighter and Dad! While our primary home is in the North Georgia Mountains, we love to travel all over the USA with our kidos exploring the great outdoors and taking photos!

We met a few years ago at a birthday party in Atlanta. The stars aligned in so many ways; it was truly love at first sight!

​

As it turns out, Luckie and I grew up just 10 miles apart in neighboring towns in Cobb County, Georgia. As we began to learn more about each other, we realized we’ve crossed paths our entire lives but never met! Finally meeting each other felt like a dream come true! We got hitched under the Saint Joe Lighthouse a few years later. We couldn’t be more excited to be on life's journey together.

Luckie introduced me to the adorable town of Port Saint Joe (PSJ) in 2020. The town is so charming and the beaches so dreamy, it’s easy to make this place your regular vacation spot. In fact, Luckie grew up visiting Saint Joe Beach and Cape San Blas as a kid with his family. Eventually several of his family members moved there to become locals because they just loved it so much!

After a year of visiting and exploring Port Saint Joe with Luckie, we dreamed of buying a home there too so we could grow roots in the beautiful town we loved. We met Nicole Majors (a shameless plug for our amazing realtor!) and over the next year began planning on how to make our dream a reality.

​

Love at first sight - again! We searched for the right Port Saint Joe home for over 6 months! In the Fall of 2021, pinching ourselves, we actually purchased our dream beach house! We are in love with our home and hope to share its beauty and charm with our friends, family, and guests!

 

We named it “The Luckie Mermaid” after our last name and my love for mermaids (and everything magical)! We designed it to be beautiful with sophisticated comfort for the whole family.
